The activities of Jubail Cultural Festival , organized by the Royal Commission in Jubail, opened with a distinction play titled "A Cage of Glass" at the Cultural Center's theatre ,Al-Fanateer in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Information.
Mr. Raja Al-Otaibi, the technical supervisor of the work, said that the play addressed the reflections of wars in the region on playwrights , artists and fine arts and innovative people in general. "The play also shed light on the psychological reflections of the war on these characters and showed how people never lost hope" said Mr. Al-Otaibi.
He added that the play is considered an elitist nature as it depends on body language, emotions, sensations and feelings. And that it has a philosophical dimension rather than a dramatic one. moreover, the characters are not as important as the conflict of ideas.
The Play is written by Dr. Shadi Ashor and performed by a number of Saudi young theatre actors such as Faisal Al-Marshadi, Moaathe Al-Amri, Jassim Al-Essa, Rayyan Omar and Nayef Al-Shehri. the play was produced by Mr. Yazeed Al-Khamis, directed by Mr., Al-Monther Al-Nugees and technically supervised by Raja Al-Otaibi. Mr. Athaal Al-Shammari, the Director of Social Services Department, was among the audience of the play along with the General Supervisor of Cultural Affairs Agency in the Ministry of Culture and Information and the General Manager of Cultural Activities in the Ministry, Mr. Abdulrahman bin Wassil Al-Ahmdi.
On the second day of the festival, a poetry evening was held at the cultural center for the Kuwaiti Poet Salem Sayyar in which he recited a selection of his poems. He started the evening with a poem in which he praised Jubail Industrial City then recited poems about mothers, honesty, death etc.. The event was presented by Mohammed Al-Rahbi.
It is worth mentioning that the First Jubail Cultural Festival aims to activate the cultural movement in the region by comprising several cultural, fine arts and training activities that suit all segments of society. The festival's activities lasted for six days.
