The Royal Commission in Jubail Organizes a Symposium on School Nutrition.
His Excellency Engineer Adnan A. Al-Aloni, Deputy Director General for Public Services in the Royal Commission in Jubail inaugurated last Monday a Symposium organized by Environment Health Section of Property Department on school nutrition and its significance on education of both male and female students together with the accompanied exhibition at Conference and Lecture Hall in Al-Fanateer City Center.
The Symposium aims at promoting health awareness and educate target groups such as parents, house wives, health care supervisors, decision makers and students on nutrition sound basis and its positive effects on male and female students understanding. The Symposium shed light on some topics including types of nutritious daily meals, malnutrition diseases in school students, the importance of breakfast for students, the instructions and standards to be available in school cafeterias and how to improving nutrition levels of school students.
The Symposium defined food safety and nutrients to discuss the needs, functions and balanced diet at school age in addition to nutrition problems at school age such as obesity, cavities and the effect of not having breakfast. The symposium also discussed fast food phenomenon
Dr. Ibrahim S. Al-Mahayza, Vice-President of Saudi Organization for Nutrition and Medicine and professor Taha Qomsani, Head of Organic Chemistry Section, Science Capitalize Dept., king Abdulaziz University and Dr. Khalid A. Madani Nutrition Advisor at the Ministry of Health and Deputy Chairman of Saudi Society for Food and Nutrition attended this Symposium. Many parties participated in the exhibition including Environment Health section of Property Department, Education Services Department of the Royal Commission, Representative of Girls Education, Jubail, Gulf Catering Company and Food World Magazine.
On the following day the Symposium was dedicated for women only and speakers included Dr. Hayfa Hejazi, Assistant Professor and Ex-Head of Nutrition Section, Dept. of Education, Makkah Al-Makaramah and Dr. Eman Mohammed Saleh Ismaeel Head of Nutrition Section, Dept. of Education, Jeddah.
