RCH is successful to save the Life of a motionless Citizen at the Emergency Department
The medical team of RCH, led by Dr. Nabil Bin Saud Al Shafei, recently succeeded in saving the life of a 16-year-old citizen who arrived in the emergency department with a motionless injury caused by a car accident.

Dr. Nabil Al Shafei, a neurosurgery consultant, said that a 16-year-old young man arrived in the emergency room due to a car accident. After doing the diagnostic tests, the CT scan and MRI, the patient showed inability to move his feet because of the compression on the nerves and the dislocation of the vertebrae. Thus, the team immediately decided to perform an urgent surgery to remove the  compression on the nerves and fix the vertebrae.

The surgery was successful and the patient was given follow-up appointments in the physiotherapy department, which lasted several days, after which the patient was able to walk.
The Department of Neurosurgery has recently witnessed a remarkable development in the number of successful for neurosurgery and spinal surgery operations. Furthermore, the department remains to receive many different medical conditions requiring specialized surgical intervention.

It is worth mentioning that the Department of Neurosurgery has recently developed a training program to attract leading university lecturers worldwide to visit the hospital on a monthly basis to conduct training courses in the specialized areas of neurosurgery.  In addition, this step provides the Health Services staff with the ability to identify the latest modern discipline in neurosurgery and places RCH on the map of health care providers as a reference training center in the region.
