Conceptions of Jubail University College Interior Design Department students of captivated the attention of the visitors of Contemporary Art Festival which is held at the Cultural Center in Al-Jubail Industrial City. The Interior Design Corner presented the most beautiful forms of creativity in drawing and design in a modern and contemporary style.
Hanan Al-Qahtani, Vice Chairman of Interior Design Department at Jubail University College and Corner Supervisor, said "The participation of ID students in the event reflect an innovative and expressive vision that displays the connection between science and art in an inspirational and creative form. The corner brought together knowledge that represents the foundation and base, art and modern designs that keep pace with the development and needs of community”.
Al-Qahtani pointed out that the ID booth is participating with five different sections. The most prominent of which is the modern high-quality paintings, modern furniture, and graduation projects of student to present the best three completed projects. In addition to the children's section to familiarize them with house designing and furniture arranging, and the modern lighting design section where students present modern lighting units.
FabLab Jubail represented a digital window to express creative energies and contemporary art in a way that impressed the visitors. In this context, Hossam Al-Zahrani, the Corner Supervisor, said that their participation comes through linking art to technology in several ways: conducting workshops in the use of digital processing equipment for wood carving in calligraphy , Woodturning using traditional lathe and chisel, and integrating electronics into art using lights. The corner also offers an exhibition for the works of the beneficiaries of FabLab during the past two years including 3D sculptures and carving.
Contemporary Art involves the use of modern technology as part of the Virtual Reality drawing experience in the "Fantasy Brush" corner which has attracted people to create 3D arts with colors, lights, motion and sound at the same time through painting on a virtual board. It is an exciting experience for the senses and visitors can watch it through the linked screens. The show includes glasses, handheld controllers connected to a laptop. Visitors wear those equipment to move to a 3D world where background colors can be changed and space drawing is possible.
In the visual illusion section, visitors were excited with the simulation room designed by the ophthalmologist Albert Eames's Jr. in 1946, which creates visual illusion of objects.
The activities of the "Contemporary Art Festival” will continue with an active presence that promote the outstanding position of the Royal Commission in Jubail, as it represents a significant support for the status of the contemporary Saudi art in line with the 2030 vision and to conform with the expectations of the community and to develop the Saudi art of all kinds.
