Under the patronage of Royal Commission in Jubail GM for Colleges and Institutes, and through the collaboration of King Abdul Aziz Foundation, Director of University College Department, Maher Al-Ghanem, inaugurated on Saturday, July 2, 2011 the opening ceremony of ‘The Giftedness and Creativity” summer program that will go on for 21 days with the participation of more than 45 students.
Dr. Maher Bin Mohammed Al-Ghanem lauded the Royal Commission’s initiative, who expressed that the program would honed the student's personality thereby discovering their talents and abilities, increase their scientific productivity and enhance their experience and skills that would further develop their character and overcome numerous endeavors in various fields. Dr. Al-Ghanem further mentioned that the program was incorporated to Saudi government strategic plan to become a nation with advanced technical expertise through the development of gifted and talented individuals which will form the country’s great leaders of the future.
Dr. Ghanim further revealed the this year’s summer program has been entirely concentrated on the chemical industry, which is the main focus of the program in addition to scientific researches, hence pointing out that gifted students will choose programs that suit them. Students will be provided also with advanced course in creative thinking, decision making and effective communication. He declared that the selection of talented students for this year will be defined through specific criteria and several tests through the King Abdul Aziz Foundation, expressing great optimism for the exclusivity of the program.
It is noteworthy to note that all events under the summer program will be held in Jubail Industrial College facilities (except for scientific tour and entertainment) wherein classrooms and science laboratories, and even sports, cultural and recreational facilities in the college will be utilized.
