Under the Patronage of HH Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thunayan Al-Saud, Chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY), HE Dr. Mosleh bin Hamad Al-Otaibi, CEO of the Royal Commission in Jubail (RCJ) opened on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, in Al-Fanateer Cultural Center, Jubail Industrial City, the 1st Jubail International Kidney Conference, organized by RCJ under the theme, Kidney Disease:Challenges and Hopes, and attended by a number of Royal Commission in Jubail officials, Ministry of Health officials and staff, with the participation of more than 20 PhD Consultants and Specialists from abroad, practicing nephrologists, internists and general practitioners.
RCJ GM for General Services and Conference Director, Abdulaziz A. Al-Musned, during the opening ceremony said, “the organization of the conference comes in the light of the acceleration of medical information and the attention shown by the Saudi government and Royal Commission in Jubail with regard to patients health and improving the level of medical care through the achievement of scientific communication”. Al Musned further emphasized that through this conference, which will run for two days, could help enhance the performance of medical staff scientifically and professionally and would be able to create a platform for the exchange of ideas and views between relevant bodies and organizations inside and outside the Kingdom to develop the treatment of kidney disease and help the patient understand illness and methods of treatment and the use of the easiest and best ways of treatment.
The ceremony began with verses from Quran and then RC Health Services Program Director, Abdulrahman S. Al-Howar delivered the opening and welcome remarks to the participants of the conference. Then followed by Dr. Saleh Al Tayyar, Vice President for Medical Devices Sector for Food and Drug Administration, wherein they both explained the importance of such conferences with their respective roles in addressing patients’ health and provide an oversight of medical devices which conform with prevailing market rules and international standards. Afterwards, the conference keynote speaker, Dr. Abdullah Mahfouz , Medical Director of the Center for Saudi Organ Transplantation, has been introduced at the conference.
At the end of the opening ceremony, His Excellency, Chief Executive of the Royal Commission in Jubail gave recognition to the sponsors who participated in the conference then followed by exhibition and scientific presentations.
It is worth mentioning that Royal Commission confirmed its quest to raise awareness on the importance and seriousness of kidney disease, which began spreading in the world but with the emergence of new discoveries for its treatment and methods of prevention, could ease the suffering of patients and tackle the problems of the increasing health spending on the delay of its diagnosis.
