Royal Commission in Jubail Organizes the 2nd City Planning Forum
Under the patronage of His Highness, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thanayyan Al-Saud, the Chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, the Royal Commission in Jubail organizes the 2nd City Planning Forum under the motto “The Future Challenges of City Planning”. The activities of the Forum  will last for two days during the period from 11-12/04/1435AH, corresponding to 11-12 February 2014AD at the Exhibition and Conference Hall in Jubail Industrial City. This Forum is under the scientific supervision and sponsorship of the Faculty of Environmental Designs, represented by the City and Regional Planning Department of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
According to the GeneralManager of Technical Affairsof the Royal Commission in Jubail,theGeneral Supervisor of the Forum, Eng. Ahmed M. Al-Balawi, the event will have a significant participation from government and private entities, and a large number of specialists in the field of city planning from inside and outside the Kingdom, in addition to an accompanying exhibition related to the topics of the Forum. A number of workshops will be conducted.The first workshop is titled “The Methodsand Prospects of Cooperation Between Private Sector Companies and the Royal Commission in the Field ofUrban and Real Estate Development”.The second oneis titled“The Integration of Local Development Schemes in the Eastern Province”.
The General Supervisor of the Forum pointed outthat workpapers will be presented by entities and specialistsfrom inside and outside the Kingdom.The Forum will focus on several main issuesrelated to the economiceffects of urban development, transportation planning, development and management of city centers, in addition to the sustainable development and landscaped cities.
Eng. Al-Balawiemphasizedthat by this Forum, the Royal Commission aims atshedding light on modern city planning and challenges faced in light of current trendsand to present successful experiences in this field through the proper planning of cities, in addition to the exchange of experiences between specialists and those interested in planning.
It is worth mentioning that Jubail Industrial City is considered as one of the pioneer industrial cities worldwide.The City is seeking to strengthenitsglobal progress by presenting itsconcern aboutcity planning, housing, environment and citylandscaping.In recognition of the efforts made in this respect, Jubail Industrial City was awarded for being the best landscaped Arab city, in addition to several awards in the field of environmental protection, international awards in the field of attracting investments, and numerous awards in other areas.
