Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques inaugurates and lays foundation stones for a number of industrial and developmental projects in Jubail Industrial City

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud inaugurated and laid the foundation stones in Al-Jubail Industrial City today for a number of industrial and developmental projects of the Royal Commission, Saudi Aramco and the private sector.

Upon arrival at the headquarters of the ceremony at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Civilizational Center, the King was received by Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thinayan, the Chairman of Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu; Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Region; Prince Faisal bin Turki bin Abdulaziz, Adviser at the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources; Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Engineer Khalid Al-Faleh, and a number of officials.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques toured a photograph gallery of the companies of Sadarah and Satorb and he was briefed on their works and products.

Then, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thinayan, Chairman of Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu delivered a speech in which he said: "I am honored to welcome you, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Jubail Industrial City which is the stronghold of industry and economy, as I have the honor to express my sincere thanks and great gratitude to you for your great attention being accorded to citizens, and your follow-up of all that would serve them and achieve their prosperity."

He said that the Commission's pursuit for integration with its partners comes in the framework of its commitment to excellence and keeping abreast of the transformation stage from relative advantages based on available factors of productivity such as facilities, capabilities and raw materials to competitive advantages that rely on skills, innovation and modern technology making it possible to provide an attractive investment environment pushing the private sector to participate effectively and succeed in the localization of petrochemical, mining and manufacturing industries, and this was confirmed by the success of (SABIC) company in occupying the 4th rank in the global petrochemical industry.

Prince Saud bin Abdullah addressing the King saying you have closely experienced these achievements, and here, you continue the march by laying the foundation stones and inaugurating a number of projects with unprecedented numbers of their investments exceeding SR 216 billion for each of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu and the companies of Aramco, SABIC and their partners of the giants of the global industry, and other facilities and companies of the private sector.
After that, President Neil A. Chapman of ExxonMobil Chemical Company, Inc. delivered a speech during which he said that "Inauguration of these important achievements in Jubail Industrial City honors all of us and the Company is proud of being a part of this significant occasion."

He said, "We in ExxonMobil Chemical Company, Inc are proud of being a reliable business partner in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for more than 85 years and one of the largest foreign investors in the Kingdom, explaining that "Our relationships which spanned over decades with the two companies of Saudi Aramco and SABIC, and with the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu have represented the cornerstone of our success here in the Kingdom, where our common projects represented in KEMYA, SAMREF and YANPET companies have achieved impressive results in providing opportunities for training and development at a global level in addition to rewarding career opportunities for thousands of young Saudis."

He said it is my great pleasure to congratulate the Kingdom and our partners after KEMYA company has successfully and safely achieved the Saudi rubber project, having investments amounted to SR 13 billion , and it will produce specialized rubber products, enhancing the diversification of the Kingdom's economy in line with the its Vision 2030.

Addressing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Chapman also said that "In continuation of the long history of the Kingdom to provide a stable and attractive investment environment, the Vision 2030 represents a true testament to the wisdom of the governance leadership of this country, so ExxonMobil company is honored to be a part of achieving your vision for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people, and we look forward to the success of current investments in the Kingdom, and to future business opportunities with our Saudi partners whether inside the Kingdom or abroad alike."

Following that, the Executive President of Total Company, Patrick Bojan, delivered a speech in which he pointed out that this global complex comes as a culmination of a long march of the special relationship and fruitful cooperation with the Kingdom in many areas, noting that Total began operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1974, more that 40 years, during which it has achieved many successes benefited both parties.

He indicated that the joint venture of the Satorp Complex with Saudi Aramco in Jubail includes a refinery and a petrochemical facility with investments worth 13 billion US dollars, operated according to the highest safety standards, and 1200 employees work in it, referring to the start of full operation of the complex phase whose benefits are not only limited to the economic aspects but it extends to social impact and contributes to the localization of modern technologies in the Kingdom.

Mr. Bojan expressed his thanks to all those contributed to the success of the construction of the industrial complex and running the test work up to the full operation of this high degree of reliability, stressing that Total has a firm desire to continue to work hard and prepare for promising future with the Kingdom by taking part in realizing the Kingdom's vision 2030.

Following that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques watched a visual presentation of the project of Sadarah Company which is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Dow Chemical Company.

Subsequently, the President, chief executive officer and chairman of Dow Chemical Company Andrew N. Liveris said in similar speech, "We have been dreaming of this day and we are working to achieve it for nearly a decade, and here is our joint vision has come into existence after tens of millions of hard working hours, and after years of accurate planning and efforts in collaboration with the leadership figures in the business sectors, government and civil society figures".

He said that the largest facility of its kind is built in one phase, which forms the top of unprecedented joint project in terms of its size and scope of its operations, it is also considered a large landmark, unique of model innovation, and engineering established by Saudi citizens to contribute to achieving the Kingdom's vision 2030, pointing to the participation of more than 1,000 Saudi youths in training tasks at the global level in Dow's sites.

He added that the 26 manufacturing units affiliated to Sadarah will have a combined production capacity of more than 3 million tons of plastics with a high value, performance and specialized chemical products per year, and at the end of the next month he pointed out that more than 14,000 containers will be exported actually to 10 centers around the world.
Then, the King watched a visual presentation of Plus Chemo complex for chemical manufacturing.

Addressing the King, the Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, Engineer Khalid Al-Faleh said, "It is my honor and pride to stand speaking before you, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Jubail Industrial City, while you continue the march of construction and development by launching a range of giant industrial and developmental projects, so you have from all the Kingdom's citizens their sincere thanks and great appreciation."

He added "You, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, before more than 80 years, the march of economic development of our blessed country has started focusing on the oil sector, which has witnessed an amazing development which has been invested wisely to achieve a comprehensive national development, until the Kingdom has become, thanks to Allah Almighty, in the ranks of the top 20 economies worldwide, yet today our dear country under your wise leadership is anticipating tomorrow's promising features in the framework of the ambitious national vision 2030, which establishes a new era of growth and prosperity topped by human resources."

Engineer Al-Faleh indicated that these industrial projects are the largest and most advanced of their kinds in the world due to their size, technical progress and their distinctive products, allowing unprecedented opportunities to strengthen and integrate our capabilities in the field of industry comprehensively, and within this consolidation and integration come the unique role of "Plus Chemo" project, which is a world-class complex for chemical and manufacturing industries and is expected to attract quality investments estimated at SR 20 billion and generate about 20,000 new jobs.

Following that, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud inaugurated the projects of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu; Saudi Aramco; SABIC and the private sector which numbered 242 projects at a total cost of more than SR 216 billion.
Subsequently, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques laid the foundation stone for the Economic Center in Jubail Industrial City.

At the end of the ceremony, the royal anthem was played.
Then, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques left the headquarters of the ceremony, and he was bidden farewell with warm welcome.
The ceremony was attended by Prince Khalid bin Fahd bin Khalid, Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Mansour bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Prince Talal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz and a number of Princes.
