Dr. Alaa Nassif, Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Commission at Yanbu, responsible for overall supervision of the Yanbu Industrial City Management in order to execute the Royal Commission’s vision and mission, received at King Fahad Civic Center Omar K. Alghanim, CEO of Alghanim Industries, and Pierre-Andre de Chalendar, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, and their accompanying delegation in their visit to Yanbu Industrial City.

This visit comes in light of the existing partnership between the two companies in the Saudi International Insulation Manufacturing Company (SIIMCO), which is equally owned by Alghanim Industries and Saint-Gobain. The project involves construction of a new plant at Yanbu Industrial City to produce stone wool in a specially designed process allowing high flexibility with the lowest environmental impact (zero waste). The construction of the plant has started at 2013 and is planned to be operational by end of 2015. When completed, it will have an annual capacity to produce 60,000 metric tons of stone wool insulation materials to serve insulation markets in Saudi Arabia and other markets in the GCC.

SIIMCO will be specialized in producing stone wool or rock wool insulation solutions for all type of buildings (residential & non-residential) and for the industrial sector. It new plant will enable the construction sector to meet the increasing demand for ecofriendly and energy efficient building materials. That will play a key role in the successful development of green and fire- safe building solutions, which, in turn, will generate great energy savings for Saudi Arabia.

The Royal Commission is one of the most important players involved in the national program to raise the efficiency of energy use. The Royal Commission is seeking, through its participation, to attract industries in line with the national objectives of the program.

When completed, Saudis will comprise 75% of the workforce in line with the Royal Commission’s role in providing employment opportunities to national cadres.
